Article: Oktoberfest returns, and Deutsches Haus has big plans for future on Bayou St. John
Ian McNulty at the New Orleans Advocate has written an article that is a little bit about Oktoberfest and a lot about the transition to the new Haus:
The scale of Oktoberfest at Deutsches Haus is measured over three weekends in beer kegs by the hundreds, sausage and schnitzel by the thousands, and German potato salad by the ton.
This year, however, the German cultural group behind Oktoberfest is on the cusp of something even bigger, and it goes beyond the party about to unfold on its grounds.
Deutsches Haus is Moving
Our valiant volunteers are moving everything to Moss Street from Ridgewood Drive in Metairie, including the bear. Doesn’t the bear look chill? Ready to parade the streets with his own piano on the trailer. What could be more New Orleans?
Trivia night on Friday July 27 was the last event at the Metairie location. Events will start up at Moss Street with Oktoberfest on October 5. Regular events like Trivia and movies will resume after that.
