A fundraising dinner for Deutsches Haus
Event begins at 6pm with a special cocktail reception serving cured salmon, assorted pate’, Chef Preuss’ country terrine and other smoked meats. Before dinner, Opera singers will be singing aria, duets and ensembles from the operas/operettas of Verdi, Puccini, Leoncavallo, Mozart, Lehar, Strauss. Dinner will begin at 7pm with an appetizer course of a puff pastry filled with gulf shrimp in a cream sauce with white fish quenelle dumplings. The salad will be seasoned fresh beets with celeriac on bed of Boston lettuce drizzled with a tangy vinaigrette dressing. The Chef’s selection for the entrée is an eight-ounce portion of Rouladen: thinly sliced eye-of-round beef, rolled around slices of homemade bacon, German pickle, and onions, then slow-roasted in herb gravy. The meat dish will be served alongside a leek-stuffed broiled creole tomato and seasoned potato croquets complemented with pumpernickel bread. The dessert will be two apple-filled crepes topped with strawberry puree crowned with a dollop of freshly whipped cream. White and red wines will be paired throughout the meal and coffee will be served with dessert. After dinner, Opera singers will continue their performance and end our evening.
