On the Sunday Before St. Patrick’s Day, March 12th, 5:30pm
Beth Patterson was born in Lafayette, where early on she learned to perform Cajun music. She later gravitated to Celtic and developed a love for traditional Irish music. After spending a year studying that form at University College, Cork, she returned to Louisiana and became a founding member of the Poor Clare’s musical group. With them she performed at Jazz Fests and many other venues. Her main instrument is the eight-stringed Irish bouzouki. Beth will be delivering a family-friendly show of traditional Irish songs and music at Deutsches Haus’ annual Sunday Before St. Patrick’s Day celebration beginning at 5:30 pm.
Tickets for the concert are $15 for Haus members, $20 for non-members and can be purchased online or at the door. Kids under 12 can attend for free.
We will have traditional Irish fare for sale before the show. Selections include cabbage and bacon topped with parsley sauce; cottage pie; potato, leek and bacon soup with brown soda bread, and raspberry trifle for dessert. Kid’s fare includes chicken nuggets and fries. And, of course, “The Haus” bar has the best selection of imported biers in the city.
Enjoy music from Mozart, Haydn, and other German composers for an evening of pairing great music with fine beers. Attendees must be 21 years old or older.
