Our Volksfest on April 30 and May 1 was a success. It was so nice to be able to gather together outside for a little festival for the first time in a year. See the photo above to see one of our elegant doggie visitors modeling her spring flower head band at Volksfest.
There will be an Oktoberfest in the Autumn of 2021. Stay tuned for the exact dates.

Come to Volksfest and be part of a traditional German festival celebrating spring and all things German at the Deutsches Haus on the banks of Bayou St. John.
Attend a class and tasting of Schnapps or German and Austrian wines, Tickets required. Purchase your tickets here.
There will be a Maypole, music, games for kids, German food and drinks, outside under Oaks.
On Saturday, there will be a “Volkslauf”, which is a popular outdoor walking experience in Germany, leaving from the Maypole at the Deutsches Haus following a course through City Park while being led by the chicken dance mascot.
Admission is $5 for adults non-members. Free for kids under 12 years. Free admission for Deutsches Haus members (Members – bring your cards!)

The second Annual Christkindl Markt (Christmas Market) will be held outdoors on 2 days: Saturday, December 5 and 12, 2020, from noon to 5:00 pm. In the tradition of German seasonal markets, there will be booths for Christmas shopping and treats.
Multiple vendors will be selling Christmas ornaments, steins, art work, crèche and nativity figures, wooden and marble items, sweets, herbs and spices along with oils and vinegars and more. All will be great for gifts.
Sausages, gluhwein (mulled wine) plus hot chocolate and other treats will be available.
The event is free and open to the public.
