The Bauhaus – A German Design School
The Bauhaus was a small college of architecture, design, art, and crafts at the time of the Weimar Republic. Under the leadership of the architects Walter Gropius. Hannes Meyers, and Ludwig Mies van der Rohe about 1250 Students received instruction between the years of 1919 and 1933 in Weimar, Dessau, and finally in Berlin. In spite of its short existence the Bauhaus has achieved a special position among architecture and art schools. Its influence has spread around the world, and we can even celebrate a Louisiana connection.
