Adapted from a play by Carl Zuckmayer, this was Germany’s nomination for Oscar’s Best Foreign Film, & stars berühmter Schauspieler Heinz Rühmann (Hurra, Ich Bin Papa!, Die Feuerzangenbowle) as a former prisoner sent away for forgery, who after serving his time, just wants a passport to work as a cobbler in Germany, but cannot obtain one unless he has a job, but cannot be employed until he has a passport!!! Fact: In 1906, Wilhelm Voigt successfully impersonated a Prussian Captain, occupied their City Hall, & had both the Mayor & Treasurer of Köpenick arrested! Galvez Night is held monthly on the 2nd Friday of the month. Schnickelfritz is calling everyone to come celebrate and re-live old memories and lore that was Deutsches Haus Galvez Street!

German Men's Choir - Concert The program explores the cultural connection between Germany and the United States, bringing into dialogue the richness of German choral tradition and the vitality of American musical heritage. Performed by the Chorgemeinschaft Lied Hoch Glückstadt, the evening reflects both shared influences and distinct musical voices.

Coming to America Mari Keller Dyer Discovering D'Arensbourg: Unraveling the Legends Charles Frederick D’Arensbourg’s life in Europe has been told with scant details, incredible myths and frequent imaginations in Louisiana folklore for two hundred years. Embark on a journey of discovery as the histories of Germany and Sweden come together to tell the story of a colonial soldier’s life in Europe before sailing to the “New World”. Mari Keller Dyer shares these details from her book, Discovering D’Arensbourg: Unraveling the Legends of a Swedish Officer in the Great Northern War and First Commander of the German Coast in French Louisiana.
