German Classes for Children
CHILDREN’S CLASSES REGISTRATION NOW OPEN!
YOUNGER CHILDREN’S CLASS
The German classes for younger children are one hour long programs filled with fun and playful activities. Children from age 3-10 will learn basic German vocabulary and conversation skills.
Exposure to German culture through songs, games and stories is an important part of the class as well.
Our maximum class size is 10, so please register early. Children must be potty trained.
OLDER CHILDREN’S CLASS
Our Older Children’s class provides a more structured approach to learning German using a textbook. The course is not entirely textbook-based. We still play games, learn songs, listen to stories, and do lots of arts-based projects. The textbook is more the basis for the age-appropriate vocabulary that we cover in the class.
For enrollment in the older children’s class, the main requirement is that the child is able to read and write English at the level of an 8 year old (or thereabouts).

Class Schedule For Children Fall 2026
The Children’s classes will begin on Saturday, August 22, no class on the Saturday before Labor Day, September 5. and then continue until the Saturday before Thanksgiving, November 21. In addition, there will be no classes during the Haus’ Oktoberfest celebration, October 10, 17 and 24. If any classes have to be cancelled, they will be made up on Saturdays after Thanksgiving. Any make-up classes will be arranged directly with the teacher. The class meets 10 times.
The younger children’s class is at 9:00 am and runs for 1 hour. The older children’s class will begin at 10:15 and run until 11:15.
Tuition
Children: 10 week class
$200 – Deutsches Haus Non-Members
$180 – Deutsches Haus Members

2026
- Spring – Begin January 10, end April 18, 13 classes, skip Saturday before Mardi Gras and Easter weekends
- Summer – Begin May 11, end July 25, 10 classes, no class on July 4
- Autumn – Begin August 22, end November 21, 10 classes, no classes September 5 and during Oktoberfest, October 10, 17, and 24
