Ladies Auxiliary of the Deutsches Haus<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Deutsches Haus was formed after several German men\u2019s organizations united to create one organization. Since these were originally all-male groups, ladies were not invited to join. This gave way to the Ladies Auxiliary emerging to provide women with a way to participate and support the mission of the Deutsches Haus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We are a non-profit 501(c)(3) cultural organization dedicated to promoting, supporting, and celebrating German heritage, culture, and history at the Deutsches Haus and within the New Orleans community. Our mission also includes fostering friendships among our members and supporting the broader goals of the Deutsches Haus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What We Do<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Ladies Auxiliary actively supports the community through donations and volunteer efforts, including:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Funding travel opportunities for local high school German clubs so students can visit German-speaking countries.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Supporting Kulturabend and contributing to the Deutsches Haus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Volunteering time and talents to assist with events and initiatives at the Haus.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

We also create family-friendly experiences by organizing:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 The Annual Christmas Party, where we serve as hostesses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Summer KinderZeit (Children\u2019s Time), a fun-filled event with activities for kids.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How We Fundraise<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our primary fundraising efforts include selling strudel and homemade cakes at:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Oktoberfest and Volksfest<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Monthly Trivia Nights<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Other Deutsches Haus events<\/p>\n\n\n\n

While we\u2019re often affectionately called the \u201cCake Ladies,\u201d baking is not a requirement to join!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Membership & Meetings<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Open to all women 18+ of good character<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Annual dues: $20.00<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Meetings: First Thursday of each month in the St. Louis Room at Deutsches Haus<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 No invitation is needed\u2014just come to a meeting and see what we\u2019re all about!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

After meetings, members enjoy social time, and sometimes entertainment like travelogues or guest speakers. We also hold two semi-annual members-only events:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Holiday Party (January)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2022 Summer Social (July)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, we arrange outings to local places of interest to strengthen our friendships and connections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
