First Kegs Tapped at the Deutsches Haus
Ian McNulty at the New Orleans Advocate has written an article that is a little bit about Oktoberfest and a lot about the transition to the new Haus:
The scale of Oktoberfest at Deutsches Haus is measured over three weekends in beer kegs by the hundreds, sausage and schnitzel by the thousands, and German potato salad by the ton.
This year, however, the German cultural group behind Oktoberfest is on the cusp of something even bigger, and it goes beyond the party about to unfold on its grounds.
The 90-Thousand-in-90-Days-to honor-90 Years campaign made its goal of $90,000! The campaign is to support the transition and move into our New Haus at 1700 Moss Street along Bayou St. John. Our campaign ended on September 9, 2018.

As one of the oldest and largest cultural organizations in the city, we are proud of our mission to celebrate and foster the rich culture, musical heritage, language and history of the Germanic people. Construction of our new Deutsches Haus on Bayou St John is down to mostly interior work with completion anticipated in November of this year in time to celebrate our 90th anniversary in our new home.
