“Otto von Bismarck: Conservative, Founder of Germany and Creator of Germany’s Social Welfare System”

Harald Leder, Ph.D.,Director, Academic Programs Abroad, Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge

Germany’s Social Welfare System was set up in 1884 by Otto von Bismark while he was Chancellor of the German Empire under Kaiser Wilhelm I. The German system continues to function today in much the way set by Bismark 130 years ago.

Dr. Harold Leder is director of Academic Programs Abroad at LSU and teaches classes in German, History, and International Studies. Dr. Leder, a native of Kronach (Upper Franconia) in Bavaria, holds degrees from Freiburg and Heidelberg Universities in Germany and LSU. He has published widely on many topics related to German-American Studies.

It’s a Wonderful Life Extravaganza

The NOLA Voice Talent Foundation’s FIFTH Annual New Orleans Benefit “It’s a Wonderful Life” Extravaganza will be held at 7:00pm on Sunday, December 8th 2013 (doors open 6:00pm). The production will be performed in front of a LIVE AUDIENCE at Deutches Haus.
