July Haus Happenings

Happy July to all!! I hope everyone is surviving the summer heat. We beat the heat in June with BBQ and cold beer!

We had a great turnout for the BBQ on the 16th. Everyone left with full stomachs and one lucky guest left with a full wallet after winning our raffle. I also want to thank those that came out, with a special thanks to the board members that stepped up to sell tickets for the event. PROSIT TO ALL!

We had our quarterly membership meeting in June, and had about 100 folks turn up. Keith gave us an update on our fundraising efforts and on the Moss street property.

Trivia night was packed!!! The “hefeweizens” were our guest host and they did a great job! Trivia night has become a very important income generator for the Haus, and has become a regular Friday night stop for many. So spread the word, the Haus is the place to be on Triva night. Well that’s enough about what went on in June. Here is what you can look forward to in July.

Remember we will be closed for the 4th of July. However as usual we are open for our regular business hours every other WED/THUR/FRI/SAT.

If you are interested in history the NOLHAM (New Orleans Living History Reinactors) meet at the Haus from 6 to 9 on July 19th.

On the 20th Rose Mancinni is co-hosting a “Singing in the Rain” Sing-a-long with the Ladies Aux. Pop-corn will be provided by the ladies, and it’s shaping up to be quite a hoot!!

On the 27th trivia night (fish taco night) returns!! Food will be served starting at 6:30pm, with trivia beginning at 7:30pm, as always play is FREE!!

The following day (the 28th) I will be cooking again and hosting the island beach party. The cost is $25.00 which includes your food and 2 boat drinks. You can check our web page for the menu http://www.deutscheshaus.org. I have a nice blend of island favorites to go along with some new menu items. Tickets are on sale now at the bar or from any board member. For all those that have contacted me about helping I will get in touch with you soon with details.

We will soon begin making 5,000 cabbage rolls for the festival. Chef Ursula Jackson and myself are going to be having day, night, and Saturday cook parties. Let me know if your interested in giving us a hand.

With the coming of Saints games in the fall we will need some folks who would be willing to cook, set up, and clean up for the games. If you are interested please contact me jstephany1gmail.com

For all former service members, American Legion POST 350 meets on the 4th Thursday of the month at 6pm at the Haus. Membership is open to both men and women, and light food is served before every meeting. Many Haus members have joined POST 350 since the move, including me, come join us!

Last but not least we will hold a work party on the 14th beginning at 8am to pull apart the kitchen and do other inside Haus choirs, Tommy Mertz is the lead on this one. Whatever your gift or talent is we have a job for you, and if you lack a gift or talent one will be provided for you along with lunch and drinks.

Stay cool people and have a good July, see you at the Haus.

PROSIT!
Joe
